Works well, better versions out there – The sound is clear but you can still tell I’m recording in a room with high ceilings. I like the ability to adjust the settings. Great for everyday use. However if you need very crisp, radio-like audio I would buy something more expensive.

    2. S. S (verified owner)

This thing is pretty damn good. – I know there are a few mics out there that are quite a bit cheaper and look like they are good enough for podcasts and music recording. But really, you get what you pay for and this one is definitely worth it.

    3. R. S (verified owner)

Love it! Great construction and quality! – I love this mic! Sound quality is great and accompanied app is easy to ease with the help of a few YT videos. Now I need to get a boom arm for more control over much placement.

    4. Z. I (verified owner)

Pretty pricey for what you get. – I bought this as a spare podcast mic or travel mic for VO (voice over). My daily microphone is the SM7B, and pitting the two against each other, I much prefer the SM7B. That’s a no-brainer given the SM7B is hands down a better mic, but I was really hoping the two would be closer since a lot of the reviews I saw said they’re similar. But the MV7 is too bright, and too hot than what I’m used to. I hoped it would have similar sensitivity to what my SM7B has, but oh no. I may as well travel with an NT1 based on how much reflection the MV7 picks up. In fact, I’d recommend the Rode NT1 complete studio kit (which includes its own audio interface) over the MV7. Price-wise, they’re close, and you’re going to get a better, more accurate sound out of the NT1 condenser than the MV7.

    5. R. Z (verified owner)

Shines when it’s next to your mouth – When you see podcasters with these next to their mouth it’s not a hip, cool thing, to do. This mic shines when is it up next to your mouth. It can definitely capture audio from a foot to a foot and a half away but then you’re hearing the room acoustics.

    6. M. S (verified owner)

Amazing vocal sound, sturdy, but touch controls need improvement – average WFH “Zoom-dweller” review – I’ll start right off by saying that the Shure MV7 is an excellent USB microphone, as the vocal clarity and general audio output are an (obvious) upgrade over your average laptop’s internal mic. This is marketed as a podcast microphone, though even I am not one of the users in that camp. Instead, I just needed a quality USB microphone for both video conferencing meetings and to record lectures at my college. My previous USB mic was a Zoom H1 recorder, and after weeks of online meetings day in and day out, I started to realize how much better these meetings would go without being asked repeatedly by a coworker to repeat myself or intermittently telling me that they have a hard time hearing me. So by no means am I an audio engineer with enough knowledge for a deep critique on the MV7’s audio output (I’ll let the other Amazon reviewers handle that area!), but Shure’s creators don’t intend for this to replace their higher end mics, such as the SM7B. Despite the fact that there is an XLR connection here, the MV7 isn’t meant for those trying to get perfect, industry studio-quality sound or music recordings, but that’s the point. Instead, if you’re needing a mic for podcasting, live-streaming, or surviving Zoom calls, this is one of the best options out there, with enough monitoring options and room for configuration to get the most out of this gorgeous piece of hardware.

Excellent for usb to computer – I’m no mic expert, but I watched some videos first reviewing the product and decided to go with this one because budget wise it fit and it sounded to me in the reviews like it was pretty comparable to the Next higher up Mic of this brand. I was not disappointed. The free software was easy to figure out as far as adjusting the sound, and after playing around with the different simple options it was easy to decide what I liked best. I had a gaming headset already with a standard Jack and I was able to hook that right up to the microphone to hear myself. This was nice. It comes with two different cables to hooking up to your computer and it worked just fine with my MacBook Pro. For that I used the USB connection because it doesn’t come with the lightning cable. I like having the XLR option in case I go that route in the future. In my opinion, the sound quality is excellent even without an extra pop filter.
