Disappointed in this 8K product. – The 8K picture on this set is not as good as I had on a 55” Sony 4K? Picture of course is a bigger screen and that helps some on a big room. Have a professional installer coming to see if he might improve the picture quality?

    2. K. G (verified owner)

If you ate using this for gaming. Read first. – Not the products fault but more my fault. I just noticed that a 55 inch tv is juat a bigger version of a smaller tv like a 24 inch. So the processing power is not sufficient or all the features are not enabled.. If you want to game on a large tv then make sure it is 60 inch or bigger to have 4k 120fps or 8k 60fps and or any other enhancements. Because this 55 inch does notnhave 4k 120 only 1440 120 8k 30 4k 60 1080 240

Absolute nightmare, second shakey experience with Samsung and by far the worst! – This is my second Samsung high end television purchase and man what a lemon! It set up perfectly out of the box but the way this TV works is everything goes through the One Connect box and power & A/V go through this thin wire to the monitor portion of the TV. Okay, makes for a low footprint design… but wait, there’s more! We get everything working, Netflix, Plex, Disney +, movies are playing in a beautiful picture, good to go. I turn it off and run some errands, come back. The sound of a failed power cycle coming from the One Connect box. Hmm, I’ve dealt with this before with my previous Samsung, very finicky with power and holding corrupted information. Power cycle, nothing. Disconnect and press the power button a few times to really drain the charge, nothing. Hmm, unplug the sound bar and remove any external HDMI and then power cycle some more, nothing. So then starts my first Samsung service center call (Mark R). He wants me to power cycle everything again- fair enough, sometimes the second-set-of-eyes is the magic you need to make it work, but nothing. He recommends I just replace it through Amazon (even though its well under warranty). I say, no, it was a pain getting off work, taking delivery, and setting it up, just warranty the One Connect box because I work in data centers and everything here smells like a failed component in there. So he points me to the service center. I set everything up in the Service Center and the way this works is they contract out to a local repair service and they’ll diagnose in-person. Sounds fine, we’ll run through this as Amazon gives until 31 May to get the return/refund in. They assign the repair center to a firm I’ve never heard of and is not listed on Yelp, Angie’s List, or even Google reviews. In fact, their streetview looks like an abandoned building. It says they’ll contact me in 2 days but smelling something fishy I give them a call. First call goes to voicemail, but it’s actually a voicemail of something calling them asking about a broken tv. Second call it picks up and there is no english on the other end. We pick through broken words until they finally look me up and just flat out say they can’t fix it based on the size of the TV and then just put the phone down which I guess was the end of the conversation, so I just hung up. Out of desperation, I go back to the TV which has been without power for an hour or so now and it boots up! I throw on Fury Road to do some A/V checks and get about 15 min before the whole thing shuts down and is back to dead. This time no amount of power cycling or coming back after 2 hours will help. I call Amazon up to just do the replacement but, ha wouldn’t you know it, there’s none left in stock, they can only return/refund it, and the price on anything comparable just went up $500 since purchase. Round #2 with Samsung tech support (Hridaynath M). Another couple rounds of, let’s try power cycling again- great, 80th times a charm! So we play this song and dance for awhile again before the suggestion comes up, why don’t I just return and replace it through amazon… great, no one wants responsibility for fixing this. So we go down the service road again and I say, I’m game for a technician, but it can’t be the people you already assigned because A. they said they couldn’t do it and B. it sounds fraudulent. They say there’s nothing they can do because these people haven’t closed the ticket yet and we have to wait until that happens, who knows when?

Best bang for your buck 8k…but, beware of heat output – Waited a long time for this 8k Samsung to drop under $2000. Picture is truly amazing and I haven’t even calibrated it yet. So far very happy with it…no dead pixels, etc. One issues that I’ve heard no one really talk about in the reviews is the heat output, of not only the 8k box but the tv as well…the box gets so hot you can literally warm your hands over it like a camp fire and the tv gets literally hot to the touch on the underside after a few hours. I have this tv in my 15’ by 15’ bedroom and after a couple hours the room temp goes up significantly…miserable if I’m being honest. Did research…Samsung engineers says it’s supposed to run hot. My solution has been to hook up a laptop cooling pad to the 8k box and put the box on top of it. Also bought a small fan and placed it next to the tv….both have made a big difference in how hot both the tv and the box get. So in summary love the tv, but not the heat output…in a big living room maybe not so big an issue….also keep the 8k box away from the tv so they aren’t trading heat with each other!
