So Far, So Good – I purchased this primarily to convert my Mom’s VHS tapes to digital as a Christmas present to her. I started out by converting my own and, so far, I’m very impressed. I love that I do not need a computer for this to run through. Of course, I need the computer to upload to the cloud, because I don’t trust usb drives or SD cards to not get lost or become unstable; but the fact that I can connect a VHS/DVD player to this device and record is amazing.

Easy to Use but not perfect – 5 stars for ease of use, 4 stars for recording quality. I to had to record some VHS tapes multiple time because of sound quality. Most were fine, but about one third of the time I got a load hum over the audio. I bought new cables but still had this problem. I do not know why it worked the second or third time instead of the first. Also as mentioned in some reviews this device does darken the video image and intensifies its colors, which I think most people can live with. For some reason all of the video ran on 2021 HP PC, but would not run on my TV threw my Samsung DVD player (off a usb thumb drive. This is puzzling because my phone video are also mp4 and run fine on it. I am guessing this capture device records in a different version of MP4 which my Samsung DVD player does not recognize
